How many things can you associate with — Rose? A song? A poem? Or somebody else’s name?

Roses grow in a variety of colours and each colour represents a special meaning when they are being given in different occasions.

Have you heard of a famous oldies called Rose, Rose I Love You by Frankie Laine? It sounds something like this…

“Rose, Rose I love you with an aching heart
What is your future, now we have to part?
Standing on the jetty as the steamer moves away,
Flower of Malaya, I cannot stay.”

And a famous poem

“Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Sugar is sweet;
And so are you”

Well, as much as you have heard about her, let’s meet her in “person” because today, she bloomed in such a gorgeos way, you just can’t resist to take a snap of her. Her name is Rosa alba from the Rosaceae family. She is reddish pink and has a lot of petals. And we have got the two of them blooming beside each other today.

Now, let’s take a closer look at her.

The rain that showered the mother nature a while ago has left behind some traceable raindrops on the petals but fortunately this beautiful blooming view wasn’t taken away.

Last Sunday, we went mountain hiking at Mount Matang (also known as Gunung Serapi).  This mountain has a tar road that allow 4 wheel drive to reach to the top of the mountain.  We followed the tar road and walked all the way up. 

This is the first picture I took at Mt. Matang.

We did not reach the top of the mountain because there is a TV transmiter station there, and not allow visitor to enter.  We only reached around 2500 feet or 2600 feet of the mountain, and there is a viewing tower for visitor to view the Scenery. 

This is what I saw when I was on the tower.

I saw the South China Sea.

With the 10X Zoom camera, I was able to see buildings on the lower land.

This is the picture of islands.  I took it while we were on the way going down.  Again zoomed to the longest focal length, the islands seem like hanging above the tree at foreground.

Somewhere near the viewing tower, there wss a spider.  Wilson and I were busy taking photo of this spider.  Do you think it looks like a crab?  One of our friends Peter said that it looks like Iban’s shield.  We did not dare to touch it, and afaid that it may be poisonous, so we were not sure whether its body is hard or soft.

This orchird can be found everywhere on the mountain.

A leave has turn its colour into red.

Weather on mountain usually is unpredictable.  Within a few seconds, there was cloud coming to cover the TV transmiter station.

There is moss on the tar road.  So we had to be careful when walked down the mountain.  The green moss are thick and beautiful.

When we were walk down the mountain, SiewPeng and I stopped quite frequently to take photo of different plants, and later we had to catch up with our friends by running very fast.  While our friends continued moving away from us, we had taken the picture of plants that look like human head with green hairs.

We met another group of “climber” and we have taken photo together.

It’s a good feeling to conquer the summit.  You can bet that we’ll be back again.

Can you see the rainbow colour light behind the cloud?

It was a Saturday evening, I was in my garden looking at my plants, and I noticed this light was above the horizon on the west.  The first impression that came into my mind was it looked like a mushroom.  When I looked carefully again, it was actually in rainbow colour and very bright.

 I quickly told Siew Peng, my parents and my brother to have a look, at the same time i went to take the camera.  Unfortunately, the Olympus camera battery power has ran out.  Clement (my brother) quickly took his mp4 player with build-in camera, and has taken the these pictures.

As the time passed while I took my time to get the camera, the rainbow colour and brighness has faded.  But the shape was still there.  Luckily we still have taken few pictures.

 My colleague asked me to show her these pictures, because something happened coincidently on that day.

The rainbow light was behind the cloud, there may be also a story hidden behind the rainbow light.
