Finally ColinJong.com has a gallery integrated with this blog. You can click on the “Gallery” link above or on the left panel. Currently there is only one album in the gallery - Light in the night. We will put more albums, and more pictures with higher resolution into our gallery.
Hope you enjoy.

There were more than 10 butterflies showing off their beauty on the tar road somewhere not far from the jungle track exit. Most of their colours are black and blue, except this one has green spots. They were in a big group and keep on flying and stopping for a while and then flying again.

Once again, we used the desert path on our way return. We saw the monitor lizard again.

This moss is the cloth for the wood. It’s soft like the cotton and fashionable.

This leaves stay still in the water by the side of a rock. It looked calm, relax and peaceful. At anytime, as it wished, it would follow the flow of the stream and go to somewhere else.

This grass stood proudly on top of a rock facing the stream enjoying the nature song of the water.

A big tree has fallen down ages ago. A special type of fungus growed on the big trunk. The fungus are in random circle shape. They looked cute, like the footsteps drawn in cartoon.

These are the textures on the tree trunk surface. Although they are rough but this is what we call nature.

Some leaves always change their colour according to their age. This is similar to human. At different ages, human wear different clothes, having different type of fashion. This is the way the nature express themselves. This is the way the mother nature communicates.

This is the colour of the fern when it is matured.

This is the kids-wear-colour when the fern is still young.

This is the path where we had passed by when entering the jungle track at Kledang Hill. Do you think it’s nature or human made? I think it’s both. Without the wind and the rain and the different hardness inside the soil, and without the frequent stepped-on by human, it may look different from this picture. Remember, human is also part of the nature.
This will be the final episod for Kledang Hill Season 2 post. If you are interested in Kledang Hill and would like to read our previous post about Kledang, let me list them out here.
Kledang Hill Season 1 (Dec 2007)
Kledang Hill Season 2 (March 2008)
Till the next time we go and hike Kledang Hill again… …
To be continued… …

There are several small waterfalls in Kledang Hill along the way in the jungle track. All of them are connected with each other by the continuous stream. The water was cold. And the smal waterfalls generate breeze which is good to cool our body down. We stopped at this waterfall for a while to take a break. SiewPeng and her sister was waiting for me while I took these pictures and also the mushroom pictures.

Can you see the difference between these two pictures? Yes, the water is diferent. The above picture has smoother water flow whereas the water is sharper and freezed in the picture below.
It can be controlled using the camera shutter speed setting. Using the longer shutter speed will make the water look smoother, and on the other hand if the shutter speed is shorter, it makes the water freeze. Which one do you like?

The shutter speed control usually depends on the subject of the picture. If we want to create an artistic look of the waterfall which the water look soft and smooth, then long time exposure is used. Otherwise, from what we usually see on the shampoo advetisment, the pretty girs shake their hair and drops of water can be clearly seen, we should used extremely fast or short exposure. These are the two extreme different methods when taking the same subject - the water.
I did not use tripod while taking the smoother waterfall picture at 1/10 sec. That’s why it’s a but blur. This is the problem when taking photo using slow shuter speed. Our hands are always shaky because of our blood flow, heart beat and breaths that we cannot stop them even a second. That’s why the tripod is required. I got a tripod but it is too bulky to bring it everywhere. May be I should get another thinner tripod.
Shutter speed is one of my favorite control on the camera setting, if you are interested, you can see what have I produced using the long time exposure photography.

We went to Kledang Hill in Ipoh again. This time we used a jungle tracking route which is even more challenging than the Jejak Cabaran. It is longer because it turns a big round to reach the top. This route starts on the right side of the tar road down the hill instead of left side using the “desert route”.
Recently it always rain here in the evening. Therefore, there are a lot of mushroom that grow naturally in the jungle. We have noticed at least 8 types of mushrooms. I stopped and took all of their pictures. Some of them are colourful, some of them are showing their pure white colour. Some of them are extremely weak and soft, and some of them look very strong.
This group of mushroom looked like a family. The father, mother, brothers and sisters were staying together all the time.

This is a larger family of mushrooms.

Viewing them from the top, all of them seem to have their own umbrella.

These are the huge group of white mushrooms. They stayed on the vertical site of a piece of rotten wood.

These round short cute mushroom are less then 1 cm in height. I have to take their photo at the shortest distance and with maximum closed-up. Then, I still have to crop this photo so that the mushroom can be enlarged a bit. They were really small. May be they hadn’t grow to their matured size.

This is the first time I see this type of strange mushroom. It had a brown-orange sharp cap, and a rough stem. It gave me a mysterious feeling because of its odd look. Its tall cap makes it looks like the Harry Potter’s Hogwarts School.

SiewPeng noticed this and told me that this is the heart-shaped (love) mushroom.

These are the mushroom without the stalk. They are hard and not easy to break.

We discover something new every time we come to Kledang Hill. Mushrooms are not the only things that we discovered this time. We have discovered other things as well. Stay tuned.
We are now in Kuching, sometimes in Ipoh, however, there is a place that we always miss - Toowoomba, Australia. |
