Stutong Part 1 - The Butterflies 01

We found these butterflies in Stutong Park, Kuching. They appeared in a group of 8 to 10, and all of them were wearing the same uniform. All of them took their turns to stop at the yellow flowers. The flower must be very sweet and fragrant that’s why it can attract a lot of butterflies. At anytime, the maximum number of butterfly that can stop at the flowers were 4 or 5 butterflies.

I wonder why all of the butterflies were having the same coloured wings. They should be from a same family, and they had taken the territory there and do not allow other butterflies to come near by.

Stutong Part 1 - The Butterflies 03

For the first picture, I used the method of wait and shoot.

From these photos, we can see the limitation of our camera. The background is not blurred enough. And when I use macro mode, I need to get very close to the butterfly. And I cannot control the zoom, because the zoom is locked. The camera automatically chose to use the wide angle and the background was difficult to compose. When taking these photos, I have learned that our fast response is very important because the butterfly keep on moving.
