KL Trip 2008 - Spy in the Sky 01
#1 By standing on top of the observation desk at KL Tower, you can use the telescope to become a spy. I have found a garden on top of a tall building. With 10X zoom on my camera, I can see the umbrella and the mini pergola. It is really a great idea to have plants on top of a building to help our ecology system.

Two idea comes to my mind. First, telescope can do bad things such as infringement of privacy. Second, if telescopic cameras are installed on a tall building in different angles, it can help to reduce crime and help in police investigation. :p But this idea may not possible, because it may need billions of cameras to monitor billions of angle, unless a more effective technology comes. [Nowadays camera surveillance is very common for security but not privacy infringement. It usually installed in public area with warning sign to the public. There should not be a problem.]

As I said earlier, I enjoy to view the scenery from a tall place with both wide angle viewing and telescopic viewing. But I don’t want to become a spy because I don’t want to be spied. I have taken few spy pictures, but none of them show the person’s face clearly. I hope I did not intrude their privacy.

#2 [This is a cropped photos]. This is the maximum capability of my 10X zoom camera can do. I can only see the people after download this photo to the computer.

#3 There are a few of high power telescopes provided free at the observation desk. I was curious whether I can take photo through the telescope. I tried to put my camera lenses to the eyepiece of the telescope and it works. But the photos are not sharp. The camera failed to do the autofocus but at least the shape can roughly be seen. What are they doing? They are installing parabolic antenna.

#4 I looked again towards the direction of the targetted building’s roof top with my eyes, I don’t even know there were people there.

#5 I am not sure how many X zoom the telescope can reach, but it’s really zoomed in a lot. 100X may be?

#6 In movie or drama, usually people like to fight on the roof top.

#7 Roof top can be a good place to put ugly and noisy things. It also can be a place to generate solar power.

#8 Spied on others again. This is a construction site where 3 persons were standing together discussing something. We cannot hear what they were talking about. If there is an equipment invented for listening sound from far away, it will be terrible. But there is. Think carefully what it is.

The word “tele” means distances (in Greek), it is usually used as a prefix. Telescope allows us to see things from a far distance, whereas tele-what allow us to hear the voice from far away? Can you guess the answer in my mind now?

#9 Beautiful swimming pool on the roof top. It can be a sensitive place of privacy infringement.

#10 Swimming pool on top of the building allow one to have privacy from the ground, but not from the sky.

#11 We do not have to worried too much, because not many people have a high power telescope since it is not a cheap thing.

The swimming pools remind me an oldies - Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.

#12 I found many swimming pools around KL.

#13 Another one again.

#14 This is special semi-indoor swimming. It is covered from rain, but it allows sunlight to go in. I like it and hope that I have an opportunities to swim there.

Learning to swim is one of the things that I wanted and yet to do in my life.
