Sam Poh Tong Part 2 - Quiet Garden 01

It was a quiet weekday noon in Sam Poh Tong. We were the only visitors in the garden.  We can’t even see the gardener, may be they were having their lunch.

After we entered the gate of Sam Poh Tong, we saw a few old ladies sitting under the shade of the trees selling KangKong (a type of leaf vegetable).  We bought some to feed the tortoises before we moved ourselves to the pond and the garden.  It was exactly 12 noon, and the weather was really hot.

-  There is a walking path in the garden with soil on the ground.  Bonsai and plants are on both side of the path.

-  A lovely pergola giving the shade from the hot sun.  Can you see that there is a traditional Chinese pavilion ahead?  It is in red.

I always like to see pergola and always imagine how my future pergola looks like.  It must be crawled by climber plants with nice scent of flowers on it.

-  A stone bridge.  IT is an important feature to enhance the garden lanscaping.

When we were somewhere around the bridge, finally we found other tourists.

-  A stone lamp.  It is similar to something that I have seen before, I just can’t remember what it is called.

There are many bougainvillea trees around the pond.  The are all in bonsai grade.  Look at their tunk.  Their age may be as old as you and me.  The older they are, the nicer they look.  How about human?  Don’t just judge base on outlook.  The older we are, the more experience we have. :P

-  I like the leaves of this bougainvillea.  The sun light pass through the leaves and give a harmonised tone of light green colour.  Photography Tips: +1 for the exposure if the leaves are not bright enough or when the backgound is too bright.

It took years to form the shape of the trunk.

-  Look at the tree skin.  Although it is old, dried and may get off pieces by pieces, doesn’t it look artistic?  All of us especially girls, I am sure that you don’t want this to happen to your skin.  :P

- Moss is one of my favorite thing in garden.  The moss give beautiful light green colour and the feeling of the sense of touch.

-  Bamboo is a special tree, it provides the look which can’t be replaced by other tree.  I like bamboo and have collected a few species.  I also have collected different type of dracaena which consider as bamboo in Chinese but it is not bamboo actually.

The photo above is too bright, I have no choice because the other photo I have taken is too dark.  I should try different exposure, but I didn’t.  If I did it, I think I may spend whole day in Sam Poh Tong.  The bracketing mode in my camera helps a lot, but it would be better if it allow me to have +/-0.3 instead of +/-1.

-  This is another main door of Sam Poh Tong.  We ended our journey to the pond and the garden by walking out of this door.

This series of Sam Poh Tong posts has not ended yet.  I have a lot of photos and videos of tortoises which am going to show you next.
