There were a lot of events held in Kuching since last Monday (27 July) in conjuntion with the opening of DUN and the 218th MMRR (Majlis Mesyuarat Raja-Raja Ke-218 / 218th meeting of the Conference of Rulers). One of the most interesting events is the decorated boat parade around Sarawak River at Waterfront Kuching.

This boat is also decorated with a model of DUN.

On the left side of the background is the Astana.

Some of the boats are static, but some of them are moving all the time. Some of them were fast, some of them were slow.

This boat was labelled with Sarawak Energy. Is it from Sesco?

Another boat with the DUN model, it is the boat from JKR (Jabatan Kerja Raya / Government Public Work Department).

There were 2 flags on the boat, on the left was the Flag of Malaysia, on the right was the Flag of Sarawak.

The Flag of Malaysia on the Boat.  There are 14 stripes but are you able to calculate how many bulbs were used to form the flag?

One of the banks also join the boat parade.

Most of the boats has the words “Daulat Tuanku” which means praise the King. Some of the boats has written “Sarawak Maju Dalam Malaysia” which means Sarawak is developed under Malaysia.

Sometimes, the boats may turn its direction so that the visitor at both sides of the river can see both sides of the boat.

I am not sure this boat was from which corporation, but the interesting thing is the kite of the boat. It is almost static and parked next to a jetty at a far end corner of the Kuching Waterfront.

This boat is decorated as a fish, with other animal and a human (the figure looks like the famous king of pop, Michael Jackson, spooky huh…?) on top of the fish.

Since I have taken too many photos of the decorated boat, I need to separate into more than one post. Hope you enjoy the photos.
