Can you see the backlighting part in this photo above?

I came across another prize winning photo yesterday that struck my mind on this topic.  While I was editing the photo above in the previous post, I accidentally found the backlight element is inside my photo too.  

Of course I am not going to compare my photo with the first prize photo (2008 winner on dcmag) that I have seen.  That photo is really amazing.  It is an almost totally dark photo with a grouse (a bird that looks like a chicken) in the photo that only showing its red head and backlight outline on right side of its body.  The background and the grouse, and almost everything have a dark tone.

SiewPeng said, “like that also can get first prize?” when she compared to the second prize and the third prize.  I told her that it is because of the technique used and the meaning and feeling that the photo can give.
