Selamat Hari Haya Aidilfitri from Kuching 01

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri or Happy Eid to all the Muslim in Malaysia and also around the world.

Again the famous cat at Padungan Kuching is decorated with the Hari Raya theme, which attracted a lot of visitors (local or foreign) to stop by and take photos with the big white cat statue.

This is our third times in this year taking photos with the cat (different theme each time).  And, this is the most challenging, because the decoration is not on the cat, but the lights around it.  It is too wide and the area there does not allow me to move my camera backwards, otherwise my camera would be on the road of a busy roundabout.  Therefore, I moved my camera 3 steps to the left, and with my tripod, we started shooting our pictures with the cat.

When we were shooting, there were a few groups of people came and were waiting for us, we had to either shoot quickly, or let them shoot first.

I used a setting called 2nd curtain slow sync flash on my camera, with shutter speed of 1 sec to take our photos.  The flash effect was not strong, but the reason I used this setting was because I would know that the camera has taken our photos, and I could move.  :p

These are the lights beside the cat.

This year we visited a special muslim friend, he is a doctor in Sosial Science and Humanity and psychology, we talked about many things (Hari Raya, religion etc.) , and we have learned a lot from him.  He is very sensitive, and capable of noticing a small human action, analyse it and explain it to us in detail.  The actions are such as what a person did while waiting for his / her turn in a bank, waiting for the traffic lights to turn green, walking pass between two other people or a group of people who are having conversation, pushing chair back to its original place after having a meal in a restaurant etc.  I have started to practise to take note on others’ behaviours, and try to understand their feeling.  Thank you Dr.
