Mr. Bell from UK came to pay a visit on his business partner, Colin in Malaysia.

In a phone conversation,

Colin:  Which hotel are you staying?  I am going to send the P&C (Private & Confidential) document to you

Mr. Bell:  What?  Who is coming?!?  How can you pass that document to another person?

Colin:  No! No! No!  Don’t worry, I am going to send it personally.

Mr. Bell:  … … … ...

Can you spot what did Colin say in this conversation that caused panic in Mr. Bell?  This is a common grammar mistake that we always make between the word “send” and “deliver“.

Send” means you give something to a person through a third party (post office, postman, e-mail program, mail server, etc.) whereas  “Deliver” means you give something to the receiver personally.

That’s why when Colin said that he will send the Private and Confidential document to Mr. Bell, he panic because that means someone else will assist Colin to send it and he or she might get access to information that is not supposed to be revealed.

We are not perfect in our English either and we were also pointed out with this mistake not long ago by a doctor but not the business partner above so we thought about sharing it with all our readers.

Hope this helps you. :)
