This is a new species of water lily in our home garden.  I have shown you the purple and pink water lily months back, now this is a dark pink water lily.

I don’t know when did my father plant it, until it bloomed.  My mother said that it is different from our other water lilies because it bloomed in the evening (not as usual in the morning).  But I did not notice any difference because I seldom go to our garden lately.

This is an over-exposed photo (too bright), but it is showing the details on the center of the flowers.

This is my father’s big bucket of water lilies.  Look at the leaves, there are leaves in dark red.  Those dark red leaves are the leaves of this dark pink water lily.

I have learned from what I have observed in many plants:-  The darker the colour of their leaves, young stems, roots etc., the darker colour will be shown on the flower.  This apply to orchids, balsam and many other plants.  The water lily has this characteristic as well.

I have a friend who have a lot of orchids in his home, his father can tell the colour of the flower by looking only at the plant itself without the flower.

A bug stopped on the stem of the flower when I took the pictures of the water lily.  It talked to me, “I also want to appear in your blog”.
