Coral-Shaped Insect 01

I found this while I was jogging days ago.  Yes, I have sharp eyes and it caught my attention even it is about 1 cm on the footpath while I was running at 6 km/h.

I almost stepped on it.  I quickly stopped my steps, squatted down and took its photos.

It could move slowly, and its coral-like-hair can open wide and close.

I blow some air and hope that it could go to the side to prevent the jogger behind me to accidentally stepped on it.  But it didn’t move, it held its legs tight on the ground.  It just “closed” its white hair (made itself smaller)  and stood still.  After a few seconds it crawled to the side, and I continued jogging.

I am not sure about the name of this insect.  But I have a feeling that it might be related to slime mold on plants.

Let’s analyse on the technical photography issues, there were some mistakes made when I took the above photos.  I should have reduced the exposure when the background was dark (especially on white objects), but I didn’t.  It is also not possible to do manual focus on my mobile phone camera.
