This is our new kitchen gadget which we bought last week.

I took its photo because I was attracted by its colours.

I have drawn a petola sponge using a computer software.  It is messy, just like what is happening now in my mind which is overloaded with programming codes.  I need a break to tidy up the messy lines.

I am going to do a half marathon (21 km run) again to release my tension.

The most challenging part in taking a closeup photo of a flower is the control of its background.  I always try to keep the background simple, unless the background tell some stories.

It was hard to avoid the reflection on the picture above, however, I made it as dark as possible.

All these photos were taken using my mobile phone camera.

Taking the macro photos of part of the flowers was easy, I just turned to the correct mode, and put the lens as close as possible.

We were jogging for 3 km non stop, and we had this photo session while we were taking a break.  The pond was not big, but it took us at least half an hour observing and clicking our camera shutters.

Someone came and watched what SiewPeng and I were doing.  He stopped for about 30 seconds and went away.

It was a sunny Sunday morning, the water lilies were ‘relaxing’ inside the pond.  However, we jogged for another round before we left the park.

Young leaves and flowers were taking turns to express themselves.   From the photo, they were still in the muddy pond, but days later, they are going out of the mud and bloom beautifully.

This flower is very tiny.  I suspect it is a type of mini dandelion.  The seeds might fly in the wind when they are matured.

This is the same flower but it has not bloomed.  A fly were stopping on it.

Even it is a small pond, if we observe it carefully, we can find many stories of “life” inside it.  While we were looking at the frogs, flowers and the water reflection, all of them were watching us too.  We don’t hurt each other, but say hello to them and promise that we will take the best photo of them.

Use a magnifying glass and look at your monitor, you will be able to see the pixels (dots).  It has close relationship with the “resolution”.

The following are from what I have understood, ignore the following if you do not like its technical part.

If a picture of size 10px X 10px is displayed on the screen at 100% (no zooming), it is supposed to take 10 X 10 pixels on the display.  I do not believe that every screen is always 72dpi (dot per inch).

For printed pixel, if it is 300dpi, it means that there are 300 dots on an inch, the size of the pixels must be the same or smaller than 1/300 inch.

On the same monitor, if we increase the screen resolution, the pixel size will become smaller so that the monitor can display more dots.

On different monitors but with the same resolution, the larger screen has larger pixel size.

I can tell you the pixel size on a monitor or printed material, but I cannot tell you the pixel size of an image file without the output, because it depends on how big is the output.

Some picture files has the dpi properties, but it is only a relative reference so that it can tell the user how big it is in cm or inch.  The pixel sizes might be different if the output has different dpi.  Therefore I always use pixel rather than inch or cm when handling images.

Pixel can be as big as a human being.  It happens when a large group of people wearing different colour of clothing lines up together, words or patterns can be seen from far away.  It can usually be seen during an opening ceremony (such as the Olympic Games) or other important celebrations.
