The memory of visiting Pangkor Island when I was a child is very vague.  I cannot recall much details except that my mum and I had to take a really long boat ride before we could reach the island.

When I stepped foot on the island again, I felt that it has evolved a lot.

This is a picture taken from far.  Take note of the colourful object at the far left.  It is one of those slides made of plastic, which is meant for water activities I think.

We did not go to the beach.  We went to the temple and took all the pictures from there.  However, we were still sunburned.

There are many boats on the beach.  I am not sure whether they belong to anyone though.  And there was a colourful banana boat too.

There are two cement blocks on the beach but I am not sure of their purposes.

We drove for 1.5 hours from Ipoh to Lumut, took boat (30 minutes waiting and 10 minutes ride), and later took a taxi van (10 minutes) to the beach at Teluk Nipah (Nipah Bay).

This is our first visit to Pangkor Island, we just had a short day trip there.

After we get out from the jetty, a lot of pink taxi vans were waiting to pick up passengers.

Some taxi drivers will take just a group of people, but some took a few small groups until their vans were full.  We (4 people) shared a van with another group (3 people), the taxi driver charged us MYR 12, whereas on our way back to the jetty, we were the only group, and the taxi charged MYR 15.

Not far away on a hill near the jetty, I could see a building of “Moral Uplifting Society”.

The taxi driver seemed skillful in driving on the narrow road with high speed.  It was a narrow single-land two-way road, but the driver was able to overtake slow vehicles in front of him, even other cars or taxis were coming from the other direction.  It was a bit terrible.

The taxi driver dropped us somewhere here because he wanted to take a turn into a hotel, and we started to explore the west part of the island.

From the map, I can see a few islands on the north west of the main Pangkor Island.  This was where we took a lot of photos.

We visited a GuanYin Temple, and it is really a good place to take a lot of photos.

I will tell you in detail for all the places where we had left our footprints there.

We told the taxi driver to stop at any one of the beautiful beaches of Pangkor Island, and he stopped across the road of this colourful store.  He also told us that a GuanYin Temple is at the end of the road.  From here, I started to take a lot of photos.

From what my GPS device told me, this place is called Teluk Nipah (Nipah Bay).

This is the store that sells different types of swim wear, we didn’t prepare to swim, but just walked around and enjoyed our lunch.  We walked to a temple which took us about 15 minutes, enjoyed sight seeing and taking photos of ourselves.

We had a short day trip to Pangkor Island last week.  We bought nothing except these seashell keychains.  Each shell is labeled with Pangkor, and has a small hole to allow the keychain to be connected.

The girl who was selling them told us this type of purple shell only appears after the Tsunami 2004 happened, and now, there are only a few left.

This is my favorite.  It is small, and usually people put it near their ears where they can listen to the natural sound of the beach.  Beware if a crab were staying inside and it might bite your ear!

I wonder if there is a better way to sell these shells instead of making them into keychains.  The shells hurt when they were drilled with the small hole, and the word “Pangkor” has taken away their natural colours.

These pictures were taken when we were traveling on a bus on the North South Highway, West Malaysia.  It was cloudy and the sky was almost dark.

After I have edited the pictures, I found that the power cable poles look like one of the Power Rangers show’s monsters.

The first picture above has been adjusted on its hue, whereas this picture has only been touched on its contrast.

There are blackouts happening quite frequently in Sarawak recently (few hours each time, few times a week, randomly).  I hope it won’t happen again.
