“I’m behind bars…”

What you see is a kitten thinking deeply about his future ahead of him. Wondering who he is? Well, to be more precise, if you look closer, there’s another kitten behind this one. So, still wondering who they are?

“Hey you, what are you looking at? Never seen kittens behind bars? Let me out…”

Looks like the story to The Stranger has not come to an end yet. Well, these kittens, appear to be her children! But, she is no where to be traced. So, we decided to adopt them and give them a home.

Food fight!

We bought a big cage for them. We are worried about their safety because there are some street cats that pass by sometimes so it has been quite a while since they stay locked up “behind bars”. Therefore, we decided to let them out to get some fresh air.

“Hey, somebody left the door wide open. We are free, bro!”

“Hey, what are you doing out there? Come back here. It’s dangerous to be out by yourself, you know?”

“Hey, come back! Oh no! This is not good!”
“Hmm…he’s doing pretty fine, should I take the first step of…catkind?”

“Yo~~bro, come on! It’s fun! Come out and explore!”

“You take this way and I’ll go that way.”

“Hmm…what’s this?” *sniff sniff*

“I wonder if this can be eaten…”

“This is fun! Bro, wanna play hide and seek with me?”

“Ha-ha! Gotcha!”

They are Hesperantha, the evening flowers. The reason why they are called the evening flower is because they only opens in the evening. It is quite a unique attraction as flowers usually open in the morning.

These hibiscus looked alike flowers are available in varies species. The reddish pink and white Hesperantha can be found in our garden.

These are the seeds of the evening flower. They look like dates, except smaller in size and the surface is tougher.

This is how it looks like when it is still attached to the plant itself. The seeds of the evening flower are relatively easy to get because they are not buried underground and you can just pluck them off the plant.

The evening flowers are also fairly easy to grow. Once you have their seeds spreaded on the soil and watered, they will start their life cycle after that and you can actually notice the shoots in one or two weeks time.

Before you reach the Sam Poh Tong cave, there is another attractive tourist spot which has some ponds that rare creatures living under water.

Visitors can buy bread crumbs and fish food to feed these under water creatures. Some visitors even throw coins into the pond as a belief of good luck, good health and good fortune throughout the year.

In one of these ponds, there live some big fish. The coins did not get to the bottom of the pond but rested on one of the fish’s body.

The water is clear enough to see how big those fish are. I am not sure what species they are so if you have seen them before, please kindly leave some comments.

The other pond next to the big fish has a variety of under water creatures living in it together. There are different types of fish as you can see from the picture below.

When the visitors throw the bread crumbs or the fish food into the pond, everybody will be attracted. They will all enjoy the feast together.

And that of course, including the lonely tortoise.
